We had a blast – a COLD BLAST! If you click back a few pages in the pictures – you’ll see us in shirt sleeves in the back yard – yes, it was almost 80 degrees Tuesday night. Chris went running to the school yard that night and laid DOWN in the grass and looked at the stars. Had a BALL – took an hour to get him home – bribed with bubble bath 🙂

Spring fever!

70 degree temps today sure got the kids ready to play! I think spring fever has sprung. I didn’t even realize that Easter is less than 2 weeks away, and the bulbs are coming out (of which many I didn’t plant and I will have to wait for next fall). Already bought some new bulbs to plant now for fall blooming. I can’t believe it’s coming so quick – seems we just finished Christmas (and we won’t talk about the Christmas tree that really isn’t still up in the basement fully decorated, a little table top tree in the corner that I haven’t had time to put away – we won’t talk about that —-)

We both have a lot of work which is a blessing! I just got invited to test at some new places for transcription which should leave me a very well rounded list of contractors to work for, especially next year when Ryan starts full-day kindergarten. I plan to work about four days a week then – maybe 4-5 hours a day – maybe. And Rog is being offered more opportunities with Sunlark.

Getting in the mood to do yard work AND spring cleaning. So much to do! We need to get contractors to finish more work on the basement from damage we had from the flood last summer. And washing windows and walls would be nice!

Happy spring, everyone!

Does anyone remember the Blizzard of ’78? That was wild. I remember WEEKS we didn’t have school, and the drifts being FEET high on major, 55-mph roads. Crazy stuff. 100 mph winds even after it stopped snowing.

So I guess this is like summer vacation compared to that — ha ha.

And WHO again was the crazy one who said we didn’t have enough snow this year?

Fall fun

on a beautiful spring-like day!

What a fun day today!  Several more pics on my sidebar, and also look at Thanksgiving pics (sample at bottom!)

Chris just wanted to get in the car!  He finally got his way and dad got everyone Burger King!

Me looking goofy and disheveled – oh well, I probably usually look like this!  I did have a migraine this morning so I probably look more tired.

Rog worked hard most of the day getting the leaves in one big pile for the kids’ to jump in 🙂

Ryan had a lot of fun with the leaves! It was a beautiful day here in Ohio – like in the 60’s or so!  We got lights up in the front of the house and did lots of yardwork.

Colleen had a great time too even though she’s camera shy!  But I did sneak this video in – on youtube. She helped her dad and enjoyed friends today as well.

Pretty Thanksgiving centerpiece at our dinner at Gayle’s.  More pictures in the Flickr sidebar!  It was our first dinner there since Colleen’s birthday party in May.  I was glad everyone had a good time! We also had a birthday cake for Chris’s 16th birthday which was Tuesday the 20th.

New Youtube videos in addition to above, that I need to put on sidebar:

video of our Spice the hamster, RIP 2/06
video Colleen made of her favorite cartoon Inuyasha — this was an awesome video but it was deleted from You Tube because the cartoon maker claimed copyright on all those kind of videos (there were hundreds people made). 12/31/06

Flood

For my first post, I’m copying an article about the flood we had last week, which made history here. Luckily we didn’t have that much damage. Lake County flood.

BIG FYI – after this post I’m going to be gradually pasting in entries I had on another diary for a while. A lot of it is about the kids’ health and good medical information so I thought a lot of it would be good to save on here. Goes back to 2003, so all entries after this are from 2003 to probably a few in 2006.

(2020 – obviously this posted AFTER those entries.  So 7/30/06 was the first day of my actual WordPress blog.  I had forgotten that.  I edited ALL of those livejournal enries before this, and deleted some of the text and made some private.  Added a lot of pictures, hope to add more.  Obviously Livejournal was more private than a public blog.  It has been interesting reviewing my posts, that’s for sure….

Christmas, organizing, Weather

the mundane

A little more on little old me. Then I hope to come back soon (next week early hopefully?) and write comments to you all…

Freezing here, but it’s warm inside! I’m not going anywhere until afternoon. Last night I went to the other house and got some boots – for Rog, Chris & possibly Ryan (not sure if they fit). I couldn’t find any hats or gloves, so I’m going to have to go somewhere tonight with Doreen before or after Chiro and get some. My boots are at Gayle’s still. Tomorrow the kids have Saturday camp so I know they’ll need hats and gloves if they go outside. So no time to hunt all over.

I may go tomorrow to the other house for a while with Rog to pack up more stuff. We still need to go through everything there due to the moths and also just to sort. I’ve thrown lots of stuff away! We did take some moths here but are keeping all of our dry goods in big plastic rubbermaid bins. So far no problem with those. Then we need to do some birthday shopping for Chris.

And I’ll have to get up in the attic again at the old house to get all the rest of our Christmas decorations!

Last night after we got back, I was taking all the stuff in the house, and I turned around and saw Doreen’s vehicle as she was backing out – with the rear in the ditch and the front facing upwards a bit. Sigh. Some man came by and got someone else with a big truck and they pulled her out. But yep, some serious ditches here!!

Another surprise – I was in the basement yesterday and just happened to be looking towards Ryan’s toy box and I saw a little figure with ears and eyes – of course, I think Spice? But I looked and no, it’s GRAY and it went running off then behind Ryan’s toy boxes. MICE. Sigh.

So as usual lots of work and excitement at the household.

Better get to it – need to clean basement now and mop with bleach water and see if I see a mouse hole? And I need to clean upstairs again too….

Oh, I also fell down the outside stairs last night with my winter coat on thankfully- got a sore hipbone but no damage. I need my BOOTS for traction! We’ll be going out the garage from now on!
