RESOURCES:
Extremely important that I need to post links on are the following:
- SSI
- Social Security income that is for the disabled and there is a fairly generous income threshold of what you can earn and still get it for your child/children. It can’t hurt to apply.
- FRS
- in Lake County our MMRD program gives help to the families that qualify (fairly generous income threshold, again, plus a sliding scale after that) and it involves helping to pay for various special resources (such as play equipment, any physical equipment needed., i.e., helmets for seizures, wheelchairs for physically disabled, etc.), respite care (someone going to the home, or another program that is outside the home at a center), therapy, and more.
- Grants -
Lake County has the Deepwood Foundation and Deepwood Docs Run that can be contacted to ask for grants when perhaps all the FRS money is exhausted or you need a larger amount and need to pull from two or more sources.
- Waiting lists
Lake County has waiting lists for many things - residency (many types of lists), at home help (one list that I know of, though there may be more) and the FRS program.
to be continued…
Autism Link, giveway of weighted blankets.
MORE BUT STILL GREAT RESOURCES from my older web site:
Division TEACCH, a learning method centered in North Carolina.
National Alliance for Autism Research - wonderful site on research and genetics.
SOS’s homepage - a very complete autism site with bulletin board, chat, and many links listed!
